Country Flame Insert Help When You Need It

Dear American Energy Systems,

I wanted to send a letter to acknowledge the superior customer service I have experienced dealing with your company.

I own an older Country Flame Spitfire Insert, and I think we all know the early versions of this unit lacked the engineering and performance of the CF stoves. Many of the problems were addressed in the later Crossfire.

I purchased the Insert from a dealer in Oregon and had it trucked to my home in the mountains of Southern California. I installed the stove myself. Over the past 7 years have handled all maintenance, since there are no dealers or technicians anywhere near my area.

Unfortunately, the dealer in Oregon had scavenged parts off this stove to use on others including the control board chip, room air fan, auger etc. I have since repaired and replaced all the broken or improperly replaced parts.

I have fought many a battle with this appliance; most of them without any support from CF. I always got the standard “consult the web site for an authorized dealer in your area.”

However, things have changed!

country flame insert supportAmerican Energy Systems now owns Country Flame and provides our ‘standard of excellence’ in Customer Service

The last two times that I have contacted your company for support, the customer service has been exceptional. At first I thought the technicians were just sympathetic because of the model I own,. However, I’ve learned that it is because they really do care.

My latest encounter with your service department was with Duane. This gentleman went far beyond the call of duty to help. I know he has better things to do than walk me through the troubleshooting process, but he took the time to make sure I was “good to go.”

From ordering replacement parts, warranty,  service on a defective fan purchased last year, and the assistance from the techs in service department, everyone I encountered at American Energy Systems has been professional, prompt, and above all, courteous.

My sincere appreciation to all.

Ken, what model of product do you have? There were 4 companies that built Country Flame product. American Energy Systems started building some of the latest models in 2008. Yours might not be our product but we might be able to assist you in finding out what is going wrong. I would suggest that you clean the upper areas of the unit, make sure the venting is good and your wood is well seasoned. Email pictures to [email protected] of the unit for identification.

I have a cross fire Model CF-04 serial #1151 which I purchased about 10 years ago and have used sporadically over the years. The stir rod has ceased and I cannot remove the sprocket from the stir rod? I purchased new bushings and would like to replace them on the stir rod but the sprocket is giving me problems (i have removed the small screws in the sprocket). Any help? Is this a common problem with the cross fire?
    Thanks, Brett

The seizing of the fuel stirrer mechanism is probably from poor quality fuel that has jammed the system and that will cause a burr to be made on the inside of the sprocket from the set screw. That is why even with the set screw removed, the sprocket does not want to come off. Sometimes this is so bad that you have to cut the shaft behind the sprocket to get it off.
Try holding the fuel stirrer shaft from the inside of the unit and using a vice grip twist the sprocket and pull at the same time. Work it back and forth and hopefully it will come off. For additional help email [email protected]

That blower is not available anymore from the company that built your unit. there is a website where obsolete parts can be purchased though and here it is. http://www.stove-parts-unlimited.com/Country-Flame-R-BBF26-B26-and-E126-Motor-p/100102cf.htm

I have a Country Flame Crossfire pellet stove. it worked fine last year, but this year it will go thru the start up cycle, then all the lights on the control board begin to flash and it goes out. we purchased a new board and installed it and, now all it does is feed in the pellets but will not ignite them. i put the old board back in just to get it to start. Would you have any info as to what would be causing this?

Brian, the old board flashing would have been a sign of a fault code that should have been on the back of the control board. It could be one of the sensors going bad or a plugged vacuum hose where it goes into the exhaust blower. The fuel not igniting could be a result of the fault code or a bad igniter. You can download a diagnostic document on this website or email [email protected] and they can send you over the document.

Please email [email protected] beings this is not one of our units. Also let them know what code comes up on the back of the control board. Then they can help.

I have the country flame crossfire stove, I wrote earlier about the start up problem. the code is 0 when I go to initiate the light up and it goes into a cooling mode with blowers on and lights flashing. nothing stuck in vacuum tub. any suggestions would help thank you

If the board stays in a 0 code and does not progress to 1 then either the board is bad or the vacuum sensor (beings you cleaned out the port). To test the vacuum sensor move the lower terminal wire on the vacuum sensor to the middle terminal and disconnect the vacuum tube. If the unit runs, then replace the sensor (PP-352). If it does not solve the problem, then your board is probably bad. The factory can test the board ($35.00) and if bad will apply the cost to a new replacement board.
